The summer pool season has arrived! We’re thrilled to have our outdoor pools open on Saturday across the community. We want to shine a spotlight on our tremendous sponsors who are collaborating with us to bring you great new opportunities. These are VIVA Swim Presented by University Health System and Sunset Splash sponsored by the San Antonio Parks Foundation. VIVA Swim is making free group swimming lessons possible for all ages this summer at our City pools. Sunset Splash means pools will be open an extra hour (until 8 p.m.) on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays so you can splash a little longer.
The San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department operates the City’s recreational and cultural programs and maintains 245 City-owned parks including swimming pools, gymnasiums, historic cemeteries, sports facilities, recreation centers and the Botanical Garden and Conservatory. The department is responsible for the maintenance of 14,337.5950 acres of park land, including more than 150 miles of walking, hiking, and biking trails.
The mission of the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department is to provide exceptional parks, facilities, programs and services to improve the quality of life for all.
Learn more about the Parks and Recreation Department and our programs and facilities by watching our TV SA Channel 21 show, Park Bench. The show features upcoming events, new programs as well as tried and true programs.
